Roskam Receives U.S. Chamber’s Spirit of Enterprise Award
Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06), Chief Deputy Whip, was awarded the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Spirit of Enterprise Award last week. Roskam received the award for his votes last Congress to create jobs and ensure a more positive environment for economic growth, on Wednesday, May 18th, at Zeigler Motors in Downers Grove.
"The Chamber is honored to recognize Congressman Roskam for helping create an environment in which businesses can grow and create jobs," said Thomas J. Donohue, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber. "He has shown great conviction by standing on the side of business, at a time when it matters most. Today we honor him."
"I'm honored to receive this award from the Chamber of Commerce for fighting for more jobs and commerce in the Sixth District," said Congressman Roskam. House Republicans are committed to removing barriers to job creation in Washington so businesses can flourish all over the country. Republicans have fundamentally changed the conversation in Washington – from one of spending and borrowing money we don't have, to cutting and saving your tax dollars. Cutting spending and putting Washington on sound financial footing will return certainty to the economy, and create jobs and economic growth."
The Chamber's prestigious Spirit of Enterprise award, in its 23rd year, has been given annually to Members of Congress based on key business votes outlined in the Chamber's yearly publication, How They Voted. Roskam maintained an 86% rating with the Chamber this year and collectively holds an 86% ranking during his tenure in Congress.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
