Chairman Roskam: Companies Should Think Twice Before Doing Business With Iran
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Ways and Means Oversight Chairman Peter Roskam (R-IL) released the following statement after the Subcommittee’s hearing on the president’s authority to waive anti-terror provisions of the tax code with respect to Iran:
“Congress has a responsibility to ensure our tax code effectively meets the needs of the American people. To that end, we will move forward with our review of strengthening these provisions to discourage U.S. dollars from funding Iran’s international terror regime. Let this be a warning to companies that are eager to rush to do business with Iran. We are very interested in the provisions in the tax code that make it costly to do business with Iran, and are looking at ways to strengthen them. Don’t count on the after tax profits as they might exist today.”
