Bipartisan Opioid Package Passes House
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act. Representative Peter Roskam (IL-06), Chairman of the Ways and Means Health Subcommittee, spoke briefly to address the elevated level of bipartisanship that allowed Congress to take this major step in addressing the opioid crisis.

The opioids package passed by the House in June represented the largest legislative effort in recent history to address an epidemic. The underlying text as passed by the House included several policies to improve prevention and public health efforts, enhance treatment and recovery programs, provide communities more tools, and bolster our efforts to fight deadly illicit synthetic drugs like fentanyl.
