WASHINGTON, DC– Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) released the latest installment of Ask Peter today, a frequent video conversation with Sixth District residents about issues important to them. In this segment, Congressman Roskam answers an email from Ted Whittington from Elgin, who lost his employer-sponsored healthcare plan and doctor under Obamacare, and asked what the House is doing to prevent the harmful effects of the President’s healthcare law.

“President Obama broke two key promises. Number one: he promised American families that they would on average save $2,500 per family on their insurance premiums. And he also promised that if you liked your coverage you would get to keep your coverage. Both of those turned out to be false.”

“The House of Representatives has taken up an initiative called the Employee Health Care Protection Act to help Ted and others like him keep the coverage that they had if they liked it. This is because many people are being forced out of their insurance plans and being put into Obamacare exchanges where they’re seeing their deductibles and premiums skyrocket. We can and we are doing something about it.”

Ask Peter videos are available at roskam.house.gov, Facebook, Twitter, and via press release. The videos are sent to constituents via e-mail, Facebook, or Twitter, depending on how they contacted the Roskam office.
