Roskam Accepting Nominations for 2014 Congressional Veteran Commendation
WASHINGTON, DC–Today, Congressman Peter Roskam (IL-06) announced that his office has started accepting nominations for the 2014 Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC). The CVC, in conjunction with the Veterans History Project sponsored by the Library of Congress, is a nominations-based program designed to recognize the wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of veterans and preserve their stories for future generations.
“I’m extremely proud of our vibrant veterans community here in the Sixth District,” said Congressman Roskam. “These brave men and women who served in our Armed Forces deserve nothing less than our utmost gratitude and appreciation. The Congressional Veteran Commendation is an opportunity to recognize and honor a few of these exceptional individuals who have sacrificed so much for our freedom, security, and prosperity.”
To nominate a local veteran for the award, please fill out the nomination form by Monday, October 13.
- Veteran must be a current resident of the Illinois 6th District
- Nominees must have served as active duty military personnel or been reservists called to active duty and must be retired or honorably discharged from a branch of the United States Armed Forces.
- Veteran has not previously received the Congressional Veteran Commendation
Award recipients will be recognized in a ceremony hosted by Congressman Peter Roskam.
