Today, IRS Commissioner John Koskinen admitted to Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Peter Roskam (R-IL) that the agency was wrong to rehire hundreds of employees previously fired for misconduct or performance issues. Roskam first raised the issue with the IRS in February following an audit report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) that faulted the agency for this practice.
