Veterans' Affairs The Veterans History Project Created in 2000, the Veterans History Project is a project of the American Folklife Center in the Library of Congress that encourages war veterans; their families,veteran groups, community groups, and students to audio and videotape thememories of veterans' time in service. Stories can be told through personalnarratives, correspondence, and visual materials. The mission of the Veterans History Project of the American Folklife Center is to collect, preserve, andmake accessible the personal accounts of American war veterans so that futuregenerations may hear directly from veterans and better understand the realitiesof war. The best way to help the project is by volunteering to record avet's story. My office can connect you with local veterans and local studioswho have volunteered their space to be used for recording purposes. If you areinterested in participating simply request a free Field Kit or Memoir packet from the Library of Congress or call my office at 630-893-9670 for my information and assistance. No. The VHP office has staff on hand to help transcribe and digitize interviews and prepare them for display at the Library of Congress. Inthe future if you or your family members travel to Washington, D.C. the VHP office can arrange for you to view the story in the display room.
