Roskam Floor Speech on Living Within Our Means

Congressman Peter Roskam's (R-IL) Floor Speech calling on Congress to live with in its means. Roskam delivered his remarks in the mist of debate of the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007 (H.R. 2895) in which the majority would have essentially raised taxes on low and middle-income homeowners. Roskam believes that "In the midst of this country's efforts to stabilize the housing market in the aftermath of some subprime lending practices, this bill will essentially increase costs for consumers and divert funds from the Federal Housing Administration that could otherwise benefit prospective homeowners."
